When did turbo become standard on Powerstroke
Does anyone know when they started putting turbos on powerstrokes?
they have always put turbos on powerstrokes, there has never been one built without a turbo.
At least some 1994s don't have turbos. They are the newer powerstroke motor but no turbo.
No the 94 turbo diesels were not powerstrokes. They were the old IDI 7.3 that were put in the fords for years, just with a turbo. Powerstrokes have electronic injectors with the HEUI injection system. The IDI had an injection pump just like the 7.3 non-turbo. But I think they started offering the powerstroke in late 94.

all of the 6.9s and 87-94 7.3s were IDI, in 93 and 94 there was an option to add the turbo to the 7.3 IDI. they were never called powerstrokes. they started adding the 7.3 powerstroke in 94.5.

yep, mid 94 you could get 3 different diesels from ford. the 7.3 idi, the 7.3 IDIT, and the 7.3 powerstroke. if you do have a 7.3 IDIT, order parts for a 93 7.3 IDIT. parts guys will try and sell u powerstroke parts if u tell them it is a 94.
