I'm smelling exhaust.
Letting the ol' 96' warm up and walking around and everytime I go by the hood I smell exhaust, then nothing till I get back to the Exhaust pipe. Oh when your in the cab you smell alittle exaust too. It has always smelled like this since I got the truck so I don't now if this is normal or not.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- I was just wondering if this could be A sign of A leak at the turbo. ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Ok this must be a stupid question and I'm sure most of you are saying it's a Ford 7.3 thing. I'll go with that. Oh just for laughs, watched "Smoky and the Bandit" and one of the gas stations in the movie had Diesel for .47 cents God I wish. |
check all your exhaust connections...clamps, couplings...make sure they are all tight....any signs of soot is a leak....i wish diesel was .47 a gallon..shoot id be happy with 1.47 or 2.47 at this point :argh: when i had my 04 cummins, the day i bought it in may, diesel was 1.64...and now its triple that and still climbing :scare2:

Check the tops of the up-pipes where they meet the turbo for soot. You will probably have to do this with a flashlight from underneath.

X2 for the uppies.

I thought it was exhaust on mine....but was oil leaking out the drivers side valve cover gasket onto the exhaust near the turbo. New gasket, cleaned up exhaust and all is well once again.
