White/Blue smoke???
 

Hey yall I got me a 96 stroker 5spd and whenever I start it up at first it blows out a cloud of white smoke and then puffs out what i think is blue smoke(hard to tell could be white) until it gets warm. Then even after it warms up when i first take off hard on the road and let out the clutch itll blow white/blue smoke for a few feet(quite a bit) then it wont smoke again all day. I just put new glow plugs, a relay, and a new turbo in it. I was wonderin if i could be burnin some oil and if this is something I should worry about. Thanks yall any suggestions would be great.:argh:

How many miles on the truck? It could be bad injector O-rings. Check your fuel bowl, What color is the fuel?

Some smoke on a cold start up is normal.

The body of the truck has over 300,000 and the engine has around 100,000. and how do i check the fuel bowl on this engine i have only had it for about 3 months im more familiar with the newer 7.3 models.

Fuel bowl is in the middle of the valley of the engine. Has a circular top.

mine does it too 350k..... hellacious amount of white then just a haze of blue. only does it on the first start of the day then its good to go.

I talked to my mechanic and found out the guy that sold me the rig lied and it is the original engine which has about 322,000 miles on it. I am gonna replace a few things to stop the oil leaks on the outside but inside the motor its burnin about a quart every 1000 miles. my mechanic said it would prolly be best to get a new engine in a year or two...:argh:

Did you check the fuel bowl yet? Why throw a new engine in there if it's something as simple as toasted injector orings allowing the oil in the cylinder?

Or u could rebuild it and replace injectors and all instead of buying a new engine and if u know how to rebuild it and have all the tools of friends with them u could save some dough and have more pride in ur truck just an idea

yeah i hear what yall or sayin for sure and when it comes down to it ill prolly jus wind up rebuildin it im jus gettin a few ideas and throwin em around right now. Im goin to college for ag engineering so ill be specializing in rebuildin diesel engines. I have not checked the fuel bowl i feel pretty stupid bout it but im still havin a hard time findin it.:humm:

See the round black circle? That is your fuel bowl... Twist that lid and your fuel filter sits right inside. You want to know what color the fuel is in there. Is it diesel colored or is it blackish?
