1996 f 350 4x4 od light flashing,,help please
any sugestions,,new converter, new filter, new big trans cooler, interior light works fuses are ok,no slip, new filter and gasket,if i put it on the scanner and clear codes, which comes up converter, its drives fine till i hit the highway, few miles later od light comes back on and hard shifts, and down shifts, still reads converter on codes, new 6 bolt hd from ford,74,000 miles,im thinking selenoids, im not getting any slippage so im thinking clutches and valve body are ok,steering towards electronic parts of trans,if i drive on city roads the the od light dont flash, starts flashing a few miles into highway drives, while the od light is off shifts like new,no codes are coming up beside converter which is new with big cooler and so on
im beside myself any help, please |
i had this problem on the 96 250. mine was pulling up a speed sensor and i took it to ford and thats all they could tell me. i dont know if it still does it though since i havent been able to drive it(still waiting on a turbo) but it ususally did it when the truck got warm.

if i clear the codes, and re check it it comes back selenoid pack,or faulty pms, just figured out it is electrical, thanks

mine does the same thing, mine throws the code 1728** TCC Trans slip error - converter clutch failed Solenoid failure or mechanical failure. no idea what it means other then my tranny is getting ready to blow. multiple mechanics have told me a new TC wont help, its the transmition and itll keep doing it. mine does they EXACT same thing as yours. the light comes on and the whiplash starts right? i would take it to an automatic tranny shop and have someone drive it to see if you can get it to kick on so they can feel it. pulling hills is what kills mine. thats my suggestion for it, hope it helps you.
