Noisy intake
A few weeks ago I bought a 97 7.3 3/4 ton super duty with an automatic transmission. Put in a Bully dog six position performance chip and a four inch high flow K n M intake. The truck ran fine for a week and then the intake sarted to get really noisy and when I went to accelerate from the bottom end of a gear it is really doggy/sluggish, this is when the intake is the noisiest. It gurgles/rumbles, if I kick it down it clears up and takes off. If im decelerating from a high speed the intake is also noisy.
It does it on and off, more often over time. I have a pyro meter and noticed when its acting up it runs two hundred degrees hotter. Also when the rpms gets up close to 3000 the engine makes a whining sound, turbo/vacuum? I believe I have a faulty switch on the performance chip. When I switch between positions it sometimes kills the truck. Turn the switch to a differant setting and starts right back up, some times clearing up the rumble. Right around the time the truck started acting up it got really cold out, below twenty, some days below ten. I have been running the truck hard, from time to time, not constant. Also idle the truck alot. Apreciate any feedback and suggestions. Rodney |
Sounds to me like the EBPV. I would unplug the connector right under the turbo on the drivers side head. See if your issue goes away.
