coolant

So dads 97 stroker might be getting the coolant changed soon, I'm looking and asking around for some advice, The OBS can't use ELC? you guys got any advice over whether I use pre-diluted or mix it myself with deionozed water? got any awesome set of procedures

There are many people out there using ELC. I am one of them. I have read many testimonials saying it works great and zero saying otherwise.(I am sure there are some out there). If you drain your radiator and add 50/50 pre-diluted, you will end up with about a 35% mixture. This is because you will only drain approximately 2/3 of the total capacity. I live in northerm minnesota and will therefore be shooting for a 60% mixture.

Keep in mind that to clean 99% of the old mixture out, you will have to fill and flush four times.

yeah I had a feeling, might spend half to a full day doing a really good flush that way it'll never have to be done again. Kinda leaning towards ELC I just wasn't sure if we can use it on the older stuff. I talked to a chevron REP who said that you can, but that was a chevron rep :humm:, so I imagine if he was selling old socks he'd tell me I can wear them too. then again though I asked the question and I'm pretty sure he was being honest. the only downside to it though he did admit was that the older coolants with some silicate content when you flush your rig, then add ELC it may be slightly more prone to showing you a coolant leak off your hoses since silicates kinda had a plugging or layering effect on any seams. in short though the answer to that is if you do find a leak off one of your hoses then tighten or replace it. But I still wanted to hear ford owners opinions from you guys to see if anyone had used it and had positive results with it. Honestly I believed the chevron rep because chevron makes good products.
