weird noise
 

:argh:lately when i start my truck once in a while it chugs a few times then straightns out what could be the problem

stupid question but when was the last time the oil was changed?

Could be old oil, could be weak or dead glow plugs, could be weak or dead injectors..

Or it could be just a diesel and they do that from time to time... If it an't broke, dont fix it...LOL

i changed the oil about a month and a half ago with about 3500 miles with the oil

heard the HPOP can do this as well

how is that

try and change the oil in the HPOP and see if it helps any

what i have readed about this situation is it could also be the engine oil temp (EOT) sensor on the HPOP, ICP, or possibly a sticky IPR.

My buddys 97 does the same thing sometimes. We've been trying to figure this out too.its weird cuz it straightens right out after a few chugs.

My truck did this when I had my diablo sport chip in. It would snort twice, then purr like a kitten. Kinda like waking the beast. I thought it was kinda cool and was absolutely not worried about it.

has any one found a solution to this problem

What Kind Of Oil are you running I Run Synthetic in mine when I started having Spool valves stick in my injectors and it cleared it right up also try running some powerservice fuel addative threw it may just be dirty injectors change fuel filters and check glow plug relay and glow plugs common problems on 7.3L :c:

well i chcked the oil and its empty i got no oil leaks

HOLY SH*T Your Oils EMTY?:scare2:? HOW DOes the truck start at all the injectors are fired off oil pressure man lol

it starts to miss with about 3 qts in the system...don't ask how i know that

My neighbor just bought a 98 and lopes or chugs at idle, til you slightly accelerate. Then it goes away At shut down if you let it sit for an 30 minutes or so and restart the problem comes back. It also hisses loudly out the exhaust upon start up. This thread seemed very close to their problem and was wondering about the hiss. Any help would be appreciated.

well i found out the reason for the chuging you might want to check your oil level i was stupid and never checked it and dont ask how low i was:argh::argh::argh::argh:

Thanks twinboys, for the hissing noise hookup. I also found the the chugging idle problem. It was a bad glow plug relay. Made my neighbor happy.:tu:
