Downpipe rubs...driving me crazy

I know i need to change the cab bushing on my truck. When i turn the cab rocks and the 3" DP rubs the firewall. It got worse last night when i cut the muffler off. I noticed that the 2 hangers between the DP and the muffler were just hanging there. When i cut the muffler off the whole exhaust fell off!! There is a clamp about a foot or so from the turbo. I slid it back together and could barely reach the clamp to tighten it. The nuts were very tight but not enough to clamp it together. So i slipped the exhaust back onto the hangers but now the DP rubs all the time driving down the road. I know the bushing need to be changed and hopefully that would "lift" the cab a little and keep it from rubbing. Anyone else have this problem? Can i do a body lift like a 2" or something?

Yes you can do a 2" body lift but you might have to move somethings ( like fan cover coolent lines and if you would have an intercooler you would have to change the piping a little) to do it. But it would work. I would like to do a 1" body lift. just to give me a little more room for my down pipe. And second turbo.:tu: have fun and good luck:tu:

usually have to modify the cab...with say a hammer or such

You shouldn't NEED to put a lift on to clear the downpipe. Make sure the cab seam is cut and bent out of the way. Try tweaking everything you can. If there is nothing wrong with the downpipe or your truck mounts, it should fit.

my mounts are bad i think anyway. the cab rocks when i turn right. i can see it out the pass window. the bed and cab are off during a turn then it levels out. thats when i hear it the most. i didnt put the dp on so i dont know where the cab seam is or where to hammer away on.

just cut the seam and beat the cab in a bit ,problem solved

ive had the same thing with my 97 psd. got a mbrp 3 inch dp ad it touches the firewall. i dont have bad bushings or anything though. ive had this on here for a while and havent gotten any problems just that things rattle a little more in the cab and everything is louder. ide just change your bad bushings and let it touch. shouldnt hurt anything

im not realy 100% on this since my psd is stock but when getting a dp i wanted to put header wrap on it. is this a bad idea cus if it touched i think this would help a lil but dont know bout the rattling tho
