brake booster issue??
I have a 1995 powerstroke when its cold in the morning or in winter it sounds like a 747 takeing off out the exhaust almost like the waste gate is wide open i have been told several things like it could be the brake booster or a cam position sensor . Has anyone had the same problem??? oh and when it warms up it goes away and runs fine. thanks for all the help!

EBPV.
Plenty of info on here |
just unplug it on the turbo. drivers side.:ok1:
|
Just leave it plugged in, and let it do it's job. (That is just what it sounds like).
|
with high idle on, they really annoy the neighbors
|
its your warm up valve after the turbo before your downpipe. it keeps in exhaust so it stays in the motor longer to help speed up and enhance warming up of the engine...basically just a exhaust brake only you dont have control over it. the loudnesss comes from little exhaust being able to get through the exhaust pipes. you can delete it but its there for a reason. i am currently trying to figure the best way to delete mine. cuz i think in my situation its unneeded.

The exhaust doesn't stay in the engine any longer. The valve creates a restriction and in order to maintain a set RPM idle, more fuel is required. More fuel = more heat.
I elect to keep mine because it prevents, or at least reminds me not to hot rod the engine until it is warmed up. |
ok thanks for correcting me. learn something everyday. and yeah thats a good point aboutit bein a reminder. haha. but where im at its not cold that long and mine likes to come on while drivin aaafter a 20 minute warmup. which drives me crazy cuz it just takes alll power away and i have to punch it to get it to disengage.

It should not come on after it warms up. Something else is wrong. Could your thermostat be stuck open?
|
yeah thats what i think. ill check my thermostat.
