mpg
hey guy i was wondering what would be best tire for mpg on my 97 F-250 with 3.55 gears? any help would be nice Thnx.
Stock... Your already turning slow... At most a 33" or 285...
would the 265 be good
Would be fine.
would it be dumb to goto 4.10 gearing for mpg
that would be the opposite way you would want to go to gain mileage. 3.55s will get you the best mileage.
i got 3.55s with 265s, my best is 22.5 mpg, i did 21.3 with the a/c on, that was doin 65-70 mpg avg speed
Hey cbps;
I have written a thread how to find out best mpg. Just have a look: https://www.dieselbombers.com/genera...g-physics.html |
where can i get the specs on my highest gear
do you have an auto or a stick?
The ONLY thing that equation is going to tell you is the speed at which your truck is going when at 2000 rpm. Just drive down the road until you are at 2000 rpm in high gear, then (hocus pocus), look at the speedometer.
lol how will that help me for mpg then
Thats not the idea behind it.
Torque and gear settings are individual for each vehicle. It's only hokus pokus for someone having no idea what running at highest torque means. Guess where your truck is running most fuel efficient? Next to the redline? |
Wrong again.
Max torque is NOT where your TRUCK is running at most efficient, It is where your ENGINE is running at most efficient. Huge difference. There is no magical speed where you get your best mpg. The faster you go, the worse your mpg. Engine efficiency CANNOT change this. Best you can do is match rpm to the speed you plan to travel by selecting proper tire and gear... not vice versa. If you are only concerned with mpg, then you must slow down. |
so back to the questin what would be the bst tire to use:argh:

The 265 would be fine. |
