7.3 Fuel Leak on top of engine
Throwing this out there to see if I can get some help. Leaking fuel on the top of the engine and I have narrowed it down to the fuel cap. Questions are these?
1. Do I have to replace the cap or will the O-rings do? 2. Where do I get the O-rings? 3. Should the fuel heater be replaced also? Look forward to the replies. Sean |
New gasket comes with new filter.

this happend on mine and it was the little fule valve on the back side it is yellow and i opend and cloesed it a few times and it stoped
but you might have to get new orings for it but im almost positive thats were you leak is |
Put a new fuel filter in it, which will come with the gasket...
If that does not stop your leak then your drain valve is leaking and you can get a o ring kit for it. |
Im with him just go to any parts house and get a filter because it comes with the O-rings rather than looking for the oring kit

not sure if this is the problem but throwing it out there, just fixed on my friends '95 he had the screw that holds down the fuel bowl heater had cracked the fuel bowl and was leaking into the valley

All good answers out there. I had leaking issues and found that the fuel was leaking from the drain valve(yellow plastic body behind the fuel bowl). I ordered only the 2 o-rings for $10.00 from DFUSER Deisel Performance Products and replaced only the o-rings. Fixed my problem!

i've recently had these issues. heres what i had wrong.
Fuel bowl/heater/water fuel seperator had a pinhole in it, pitted from inside-out. Drain valve on water fuel seperator was leaking from bad o-rings, ford sells the whole valve for 47$ rather than buying the o-ring kit for 35$. O-rings on fuel line fittings leaking, replaced the fittings themselves because they have screens and check valves which can clogg, so i figured why not while im at it. All good answers from everyone, im sure someone covered it here. just gotta clean everything up and look around :c: |
I had the same issues, replaced the o-rings on the fuel bowl drain, and it was done

i agree with ocean diesel i had same problems all i did was pull fuel canister off and looked for cracks or holes cleaned it out and the water seperator put new o rings and gaskets now im leak free! while u got it off might as well replace all the rubber lines they could be cracked like mine were
