Powerstroke 7.3

My 1997 7.3 Powerstroke is being a pain, it cranks up fine and after a warm up, you can try to drive it and will act like no power, resticked somehow. If you floor it, it pumps black smoke and no power increase. Go about a 1/4 of a mile at only 35 MPH, let off the fuel pedtal, put it in nuteral and back in drive and it will take off like nothing is wrong. Then all of a sudden it will kick out again with no power, let off, put it in nuteral, then back to drive and it will go again like nothing wrong. This may go on for 5 or 6 miles, then it will just all of a sudden, run like nothing wrong and go all day with no problems, as long as it does not cool down to much, then we start all over again with the same problem!
Anyone with any Ideas what is going on???
:argh:

Exhaust back pressure valve is stuck closed. It's on the exhaust side of the turbo. It supposed to help the engine warm up.

EBPV is not stuck persay, but I would bet your EBP sensor is plugged so your PCM is not seeing that your on the accel and does not open the valve. Try letting the truck warm up more before leaving in the morning, or plugging it in at night. Both will help to keep the valve from operating so much. Other then that you can unplug it from under the turbo pedistal...
