Boost !

Curious to what people are reading on their boost gauges...
I have a 97 PSD and I am pushing 10-12 psi :booo:
I have some bent fins in the wheel.:argh:
Im wondering what others psi is compared to mine.
All stock by the way.

Post up diesel bombers :choochoo:

how did you bend fins on the compressor wheel?

PSD 10-21-2009 10:08 PM

I am not entirely sure. They were like that when I picked the truck up. I had to turbo off to replace a leak and two or 3 fins are bent. Im guessing some painfull object went through the intake causing this problem.

Could be anything, even contact with the housing. New compressor wheels are only about 80 bucks, but pull the housing off and make sure there is no contact there.

10-12psi sounds about right for a stock obs, you have AA injectors which are only pushing about 90cc of fuel compared to the Superdutys 140cc...

Stock superdutys with an intercooler are around 19-20 stock so your right about where you should be.

i have a 96 PSD and i'm hitting 23 psi in the higher gears and all i have done to it is a 3 inch down pipe , home made intake . i also have a bent fin , the turbo is fine it's not touching the housing it's always been that way

i just picked up a turbo from a 2000 powerstroke. it also has a banks compressor wheel. it ran me 50 bucks... im going to swap the compressor wheels and sell the rest of the turbo. Or possibly trade.

Your not going to see any change persay... The most common mod people do is to swap that very wheel out and put in a OBS/E-99 compressor wheel...

Swapped the wheels. Buddy of mine pulled the turbo for me...biggest pain in the ass ever. The bends in my fins were not bad at all. Bent them back actually.
