Must have atleast 100 cranking rpm to activate injectors. Make sure batteries are good and fully charged. When cranking, verify that tachometer is working. This will also tell you if the cps is giving a signal. Check that the wait to start light comes on as it should. If it doesn't, check the maxi fuses in the fuse box in the engine compartment. One of those fuses (30 amp, I think) is required to start and run. It is alo hooked to the lower fuel heater in the fuel filter housing. This heater is notorious for shorting out, blowing the fuse, and causing a no start and a no wait to start light. If this is the case, unplug the lower heater wire (it isn't really needed), replace the fuse and try that. Not sure about the pumping noise.

Any white smoke? Check the oil levels. While someone cranks open the fuel drain valve and make sure the fuel pump is working.

the oil levels are good. is the fuel drain valve the switch on front of the pump.? and what is a good way to tell if my pump is working or not?

As I said, with someone else cranking, open the drain valve (yellow handle on the fuel bowl) and see if fuel is leaking out.
