Turbos

hey a friend of mine said they didnt make a aftermarket turbo for my 97 powerstroke is this true? if not wat kind do you recommend

no that is false, there are plenty of upgraded turbos out there for an OBS

It all depends on what all you are wanting to do with the truck and what kind of budget you have.

So let me know what exactly your plans are from the truck and we can go from there as to what turbo will suit you best

Well i would like bout 350 hp so let me know wat i should go wit as far as a turbo, head blots, injectors and gauges

For just 350 what you MUST get first is a 3" DP and exhaust, intake, and gauges, if you have an auto get a pyro, trans and boost guage

Then I suggest stage 1 injectors and a D66 turbo from beans diesel performance. Get some custom tunes, I would recommend beans tunes as well, and I would highly suggest installing an intercooler. With all that you should hit 350, and maybe consider a 17* HPOP as well

ok thanks. now is that turbo bigger than stock

PSD0389 09-07-2009 03:09 PM

yes, its a modified stock turbo, but if flows 30% more than stock, so it flows 1100cfm. Plenty of air for stage 1 or 2 injectors, its the turbo I run with my stage 2s and it works great

ok thankns

if your only wanting 350hp then you can get that from your stock turbo. i put down 352 with my stage 1's and stock turbo with blown intake plenum seals so i wasnt getting all the air i coulda gotten from the turbo. i personally don't like the D66 option for these trucks. the big reason i see for changing turbos is not only more air, but more reliable turbos, but the D66 is not any more reliable than ours are. they still use a thrust bearing and so under high boost pressures they will screw up. it will probably do good with stage 1's, but with stage 2's i think a modded H2E would work much better and be more reliable. just my .02..
