Bucking and seems to be missing

I have a 98 Ford E Van with the 7.3L powerstroke. 10-97 Build date:ph: Well the problem.

After I have been running down the road (65mph) for a while and the engine is hot usual the exhaust temp is running 900 or 1000. Loaded with 1.5T. I will have the occasional problem with the engine bucking. It is throwing no sticky codes. If I lean on the throttle. It will still miss but it will accelerate and run smother.
I also get the service engine soon light. Usually when chugging up hills. But it will sometimes stay on for a while until I stop and let things cool. Cooling also helps with the bucking.
I have replaced the Cam Shaft positions sensor with no change. There are no modifications to the engine yet.

Today I finally got some codes out of the :bat: computer. The p0113 and P1211. P0113 is the air temp sensor and the more scary p1211 ICP.:argh:
There are only 60K miles on the engine. All have been loaded with 1.5T of stuff.

any suggestions:5:

Very well could be related to the P1211 code.

you need to see what the ICP is doin while its having these problems.... your IPR sensor or even HPOP might be going out....

You MUST have new clean oil with the CORRECT rating. The engine oil is also hydraulic oil for the injectors. If you bring it to Ford they will immediately change it for you and tell you to drive it for a while. Possible silicone contamination from a recent repair will ruin correct new oil. Start here and drive it for a while. It may take a few hundred miles to get new oil to the injectors. Hate to see someone else replace expensive parts for nothing. Good luck.

What oil is the best for the engine? Shell Rotella, Mobile i cant remember the name, etc.

I personally use amsoil with bypass filter and extended drain intervals. For regular oil, I won't throw in my two cents but I'm sure others will. Go to Intellidog.com click on dieselmann's page, then click Powerstroke page. Great information on this site.

for most trucks, Delo 400 15w-40 works as good as anything... others like synthetic but i have seen a few people that went from synthetic back to Delo and noticed an improvement.... just food for thought...

Fuel Filter or CPS

Sounds like possibly a bad injector? and this guy is exactly correct:

" for most trucks, Delo 400 15w-40 works as good as anything... others like synthetic but i have seen a few people that went from synthetic back to Delo and noticed an improvement.... just food for thought..."

At my local diesel shop we used AMS Oil in the owners Ford 6.0L and now when he changes his oil metal shavings are coming out =( We think it is the synthetics that cannot take the pressure... Id recommen Delo with Zinc additive (buy at napa or kragen).

:pals:Well all thanks.:rocking: Did the oil change and it seems to be much happier. I only changed the oil 3K miles before this last one but i will see how it goes.

What is everyone using for additives in there fuel?
