water methanol injection?

hey i have a tony wildman custome tune and a banks shift kit and i want to do water methanal. so im wondering if its worth doing and if its a good mod to do?:humm:

powerstroker52 05-11-2009 08:42 PM

hey guys still wondering if water methanal injection is a good idea or not?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

my biggest concern with doing this is haveing my chip and the water methanal injection may be to much power for my tranny. i have the shift kit but i dont know if thats enough???

It's a great way to drop EGT's. I don't know about Ford trannies. Putting methanol into the water is close to the same as injecting more fuel, only it's far more likely to blow a headgasket, especially if your timing is advanced.

Does your box advance timing?

Water alone is not likely to hurt anything at any rate, and gives a good power boost and EGT reduction.

yeah my chip does advance timeing alittle. but the water methanal is half water half methanal so i dont know what i should do.

You can always water it down.

powerstroker52 05-13-2009 02:03 PM

how much boost will it give me if i water it down though?

That's a hard thing to say. With a water/methanol system you can run anything from staight water to up to 50/50 water/methanol. I run washer fluid. It's about 35-40% methanol. If I want to go full 50/50 I add a bottle of Heet in the yellow bottle to every gallon on washer fluid. I spool up a lot faster just with water. I installed mine to 1. Keep my EGTs down 2. For the mileage 3. For the power. And with the tranny... I wouldn't think the extra power will torch it that fast.

alright thanks man. i just bought stage one injectors for my truck so i may do water injection to drop my egts alittle just to keep them safe

yankeeflatsdiesel 05-19-2009 02:08 AM

I run it on my truck and like it so far but did have a problem with the system I bougth from cooling mist and their customer service sucks so I reccomend a snow performance system

powerstroker52 05-20-2009 03:14 PM

alright thanks man. im just hoping putting this in with my injectos and my TW chip wont blow my tranny to shreds

Superstroker10 05-22-2009 11:34 PM

get ahold of tw and have him make you some tunes for water meth.. he will retard the timing and have him tune for bigger inj.

Banks does not sell a "shift kit"... They sell a junk box the boosts the line pressures in the tranny. All that can be done with a well tuned chip (Tony should have ajusted the pressures anyway)

Your better off going with a BTS or JohnWoods Valve body, you will get true improvement in your drivablity.

As far as water/meth... Keep it under 40% and you will be fine. I have over 120k running water with no issues.

If you are having issues with cooling mist please e-mail David at info@coolingmist.com

I have been running and working with them for years now, you are one of the first I have ever heard say that.
