Tony Wildman

alright so people told me to get the tony wildman, so i did i got the high idol setting the econmy the extreme and the smoke setting but is it safe for me to run the truck on extreme without haveing aftermarket injectors in the truck?

dtowman 04-20-2009 11:36 PM

Best bet ask Tony, but he builds all his chip max safe for what you have, or how you told him your truck was built. None of his chips are of the shelf.

Red_Rattler 04-20-2009 11:38 PM

I don't see why it would be a problem, but your not getting the full potential outa the tune. But some trucks aren't happy on that tune unless its full throttle, hence be a RACE tune. :pca1:

powerstroker52 04-21-2009 06:13 AM

i hope my new tony wildman will smoke alot on the smoke setting with my stock injectors? the only reason being is when the pesky rice burners get behind you and think they are bad ass i want to cover them in a cloud of smoke.

PSD0389 04-27-2009 11:10 AM

You can run extreme no problem with stock injectors, and it will not smoke a whole lot, just not possible with the stock 90cc injectors

twinboys 05-13-2009 10:05 AM

I have an old diablo sport chip in my 97 with +90 horsepower. Many claim this is all I'll get without an injector upgrade. I'm real interested in a chip claiming 140 H.P. Is that possible with stock injectors, or what can I expect?:humm:

powerstroker52 05-13-2009 02:03 PM

no you cant get 140+ with the stock 90cc injectors. in order to get 140 you will have to get atleast stage 1 injectors

PSD0389 05-15-2009 12:26 PM

you wont get 140 and you are getting no where near 90+ with that generic diablo, thats why custom tuners dont put hp ratings on their chips, it all depends on the mods you have, with stock injectors youll max them out at about 60 hp over stock

96lilstroker 05-15-2009 03:22 PM

how much do bigger injectors usally cost

powerstroker52 05-16-2009 10:59 AM

stage 1 injecotrs are about 875$ at beans diesel performance and those are remanufacterd. to get new ones they are about 1500$

PSD0389 05-16-2009 12:28 PM

you can send yours to Rosewood diesel and get them built to stage 1s for 500. He has built my injectors twice now and is a great guy to deal with

twinboys 05-16-2009 02:26 PM

Obviously, I'm new here. I am not entirely new to powerstrokes. Four years ago, after getting my transmission built at Garend Bros. in Iowa, We put it on his dyno. At the rear wheels we got 186 hp. The chip bumped it to 257, with propane 385. His eyes lit up and he asked if it was propane or nitrous. If we are talking flywheel horsepower, which I'm sure the generic chip is, we are right in the ballpark. +90 can mean add 85-94.5, +90.0 means plus ninety. 90+ means no less than 90. I claimed +90.
I have nothing against custom tuning and I'm sure Tony and others can do great things. I, however, prefer generic tuning and here is why. although they go almost hand in hand, I am more interested in torque than horsepower. I do alot of long distance freeway towing (cruise set at 80). For instance, advanced timing is not neccessarily what I always want. Very few things are what I always want. I do not want a chip tuned for propane, because I don't always use it. Should I tune it for water/meth injection, or perhaps all of the above? All things considered, I'd rather deal with a set known quantity, ie. something generic.
I joined this party because I want to learn more and have some fun doing it. Let's be friends and not belittle each others junk.:c: (of course I'm speaking of my rusty 97 with 270K miles.):choochoo:

Powerstroker52, At the risk of stepping on any sponsors' toes, There is a diy stage 1 injector kit out there for $250. I think you'll have to have tony reburn tunes.:w2: Good luck paintenem black!:wack:

Sorry, I confused powerstroker 52 with 96 lilstroker, but you get the idea.:oops3:

PSD0389 05-16-2009 05:53 PM

Not sure who was belittling someones junk, but Diablo is no where near the best for a powerstroke if you are looking for actual power, custom tunes not only tune the transmission which generic does not do well at all, but it is burned for specific mods, i.e. injectors, etc.

With custom tunes you have different tunes you can choose from for different uses, economy, tow, street, extreme the list goes on. Custom tunes are the best period for a 7.3 and a 6.0. If someone is looking for power thats what you need to get the most out of your truck.

You will not see as much gain with generic tunes and injectors or any mods as you will with custom tunes, and believe me custom tuners know what they are doing
