double stacking chips?
 

hey i have a 96 powerstroke with a edge evolution and i talked to a guy who does diesel tuning and he told me i should double stack chips, so i was wondering if anyone knew what chip i can or should double stack with the edge evolution i have already?

some type of programmer, like SCT or something if they make them for a 96:humm:

well the guy told me i have to use some type of chip that plugs directly into your ecm but i just dont know what type would work well with the edge evolution

You can get a Tony Wildman Chip or TS Chip and you won't need anything else.

would the ts chip work well with the edge programer?

The edge evolution gives your truck the fuel it needs if you could find some sort of hypertech or a chip that makes the timing better it would run better. The ts plugs into your firewall computer

so the ts is a bad choice if i want to double stack chips? some guy who does diesel tuning told me i have to get a chip the plugs into my firewall comp. and he said if i get 2 prgramers they will beat each other up trying to send a recieve info so im wondering if i should even double stack chips i cant seem to find the right one to do it with.

the evolution makes my truck smoke a little bit but im looking for alittle more of that diesel smoke and alot more power so if thier are anymore ideas on what chip i should put in alone with the evolution i would appreciate it. thank you

Like you found out since the Evolution reprograms the stock computer, you need one that that actually connects to the truck. What parameters does the Evolution change? Once you find that out you can get another chip to comploment the Edge. Just don't run them together if they both do timing. To much timing = problems. :pca1:

yes but where do i look to find out what the differnt chips do and change on the truck?

pretty much im looking for is someone with a 7.3 powerstroke the same as mine that has double stacked chips and im just wondering what chips work well with the 7.3 powerstroke

Alrighty, just called my bud whos has a 97 powerchoke and he said you CANNOT stack on OBS Fords. The chip will over ride the downloader and you will be throwing away 400 bucks. :pca1: So if your not happy with the power sell the programmer and get a Tony WildMan custom tune is what he said. :pca1: Learn something new everyday!

alright thanks for telling me that, i woulda been pissed if i bought another chip for my truck and it didnt work.

like red said you cannot stack chips on the OBS. The TW chip is great, I run it and love it. There's also DP and Power Hungry Performance.

yeah i bought one now im just waitong for it to come in, im just hoping it will still roll some seriuse coal on the smoke setting with my stock injectors?

Now if you add Stage 1 injectors... In this vid too you can see what it might idle like with the lope. The first 4 secs of the vid is on a normal tune and it gets changed to the smoke tune and completely different idle. But your fuel milage will also be right in the crapper if you run this tune all the time.

And yes stacking on a powerstroke does not work!

I just installed the TS 6 postition and I love it. It has stock-hi idle-50hp-75hp-100hp- 140hp. And you said you wanted smoke, well, the 140 definitely delievers

i plan on getting a dp very soon they have a 15 positon chip on ly thing is depneding on wat other mods you have it can be upwards to 1500 bucks but if u only want around 8 or 9 its bout 700

You could not pay me to run a dp on my pickup.
