still running out of fuel after lift pump change?

Hello,

I sure hop this will make sense to someone! 1997 powerstroke manual lift pump. Lift pump went out 2k miles ago. Replaced. On the road for 4 hours and it feels like I ran out of fuel. sputtered and stopped. Would not restart. No pressure in the filter housing to speak of. Both fuel tanks full switched between tanks still no fuel.Towed home replaced lift pump did not want to start until about after 5 minutes of 30 seconds of cranking. Ran rough then cleaned out really well. Tons of throttle response. Checked filter pressure bowl it was 50 PSI. Pulled the truck to an alternate driveway after idling for 30 minutes and shut it down. Went out 3 days later started, ran rough and then ran out of fuel. That's where I am now. Checked engine oil it's fine. This summer when idling the truck did just flat out die when idling "in park" but would immediately restart. Stumped! any help is sure appreciated! thanks!
