solid axle swap
I have the ifs front end on my 95 f250. Was wondering what would be the best solid axle for a swap and how hard it would it be.
Dana 60, its easy takes me about 5 hours to do one.
Where would you recomend to get one? How hard is it to do brakes and stering?
I got mine from a junk yard. They are easy. The whole swap only take a few hours
What vehicles are the 60's typically on? And i have a lift. Will that bring up any complications? Thanks by the way.
get one from a 91-97 F350, how big of lift?
Its 3-4" it was on when i got the truck so i dont know for shure.
you wont be able to use those springs, you could do something like an RSK and stock F350 springs up front to give you about the same height you have now
Sorry but what is an rsk? And i will need the springs off the f350 to complete the swap?
Reverse shackle kit. Or you can buy 4" front leaf springs for a f350. Either way the springs you have now will not work unless you want the front to be about 4" higher then it is now.
Will the springs off the f350 fit on the shackles on my truck?
Yes but it won't make it level with the back
Woops. I meant the 4" lift springs for the 350. Will those match up or will i have to relocate shackels?
They should match up. I'm running F-superduty springs I. The front of mine and it sits about like a 4in lift.
Okay good. So ill need. Axle, sway bar, springs, u bolts anything else?
Don't need sway bars, I'm not running them. Axle, springs, trac bar and mount.
I meant trac bar sorry. What do you mean by mount? And any sterring parts? Also lug pattern is the same correct?
The mount from the track bar to the frame. Yes all pre 99 F250 and 350s have the same bolt pattern
Tie rods or anything along those lines?
nope, you can reuse the ones you currently have. just get it aligned after the swap
Allright thanks alot. I dont know when ill get to it moneys kinda tight but thanks again.
