sensor issues
Hey guys. Need some help again. Ive got a,97 powerstroker having major sensor problems. I just replaced the cps this morning. But once I drive the truck a 20 min drive and she's warmed up it wont idle at all. I have to hold rpms at 1000 to keep running as I brake to a stop or even put in park . Any ideas where to go. Thanks

Thank you Joe. I was talking with another diesel buddy of mine, and that's exactly what he said. I was told there is a screen inside the ipr that could be plugged so that's where I'm starting. Again thank u

not sure the OBS has the screen, i think that is a SD thing.
|
What is the obs and sd? I'm just working one sensor at a time. Any other advice will be helpful
|
OBS is old body style 1994-1997
SD is super duty 1999+ |
Oh. Duh. I have obs. My truck is 97. The ipr is a pain to reach. I saw a video on YouTube on how to pull the ipr apart and clean versus replacing. Is,it worth my time to rebuild

well, a new IPR is about $200 so.... its up to you to try and clean it and see if that fixes it or just throw a new one on.

Did you have the same symptoms before you changed cps? IPR has a rebuild kit or just and oring kit. Sensors and Backpressure Parts |
Hey guys. Joe I did take the time yesterday to clean it. It did help. I can now stop with out having to feather gas pedal but rpms still drop and almost choke off truck but she stays running. I unfortunately broke my icp sensor while reinstalling all components . That was a $215 mistake lol. Seems to still start kinda hard and throws the P1211 code , saying injector pressure is above/ below desired.
Arcturus yes I had all the same symptoms before and after the New cps. Where is the fpr located? I believe its behind fuel bowl in the valley. Do you think I should pull it and clean the screen? |
