My truck turns over but won't start! Please Help!

I was on my way to work this morning and my truck died! It turns over but won't fire. When I turn the key on, the wait to start light does not turn on. I don't hear any sounds when I turn the key on like I use to! The truck has 175,000 miles on it. There are no mods on the motor. I changed the fuel filter about a month ago.

no wait to start light?

glow plug relay on top of the engine is probably gone. far as I know, it sends power to the plugs when the key is clicked on, and sends power to the light.

take a 12volt test light to both of the "larger" posts on the relay. one should show power all the time, and one should only show power when the key is in the "on" position, during the "wait to start" delay. if one has power and the other doesn'thave power at all, even when the key is on, then I'd do the relay.

if neither have power, I'd look into the wiring to the glo plug module, or the module itself.

glow plug relay would not make the truck quit running while going down the road, I would check the connectors at the valve covers going to the glow plugs and injectors, sounds to me like you lost fuel.

might be time for an idm, check for codes, also check your maxi fuses

Your fuel bowl heater is shorted out. This causes fuse #22 to blow.
Disconnect fuel bowl heater (it isn't necessary)and replace the fuse.

Thank you for your help guys! My #22 fuse was blown! How much does the fuel bowl heater cost? It supposed to be in the single digits this week with snow in the forecast for the beginning of next week. Do I need the fuel bowl heater?

no need for the fuel heater...winter diesel takes care of it...I'm in BC and unplugged my heater 4 years ago...never a prob....hth
