Glow plug problem

I get in and turn the key the wts light comes on for 2 seconds and then the gpr starts clicking like no other non stop for about 10 seconds then its hard starting unless its pulged in. I'm thinking the glow plugs are shot ? Could this be the relay or controller ? Hoping someone else has gone through this thanks.

Yes it could be the relay clicking. Could also be a battery issue. Take them both out and load test them individually

Well I don't wanna spend 80 bucks on the relay when the gp are 93 bucks for all 8 motorcraft zf9 but when I got the truck the other day the battery's were dead so I put one brandnew one in it now but ill try replacing the other one, well test it first but you think the battery's would do it ?

Yes. I think its batteries... You should always replace them in pairs. And the glow plugs you want to put in your truck are zd11s... And a relay does not cost that much. Go to napa, ask for a gpr109. Should be about 35 bucks

Oh. Sorry. You just posted in the wrong section. I thought it was a powerstroke. You have the right part number for your plugs

Yeah I see that now sorry I forgot to put it before powerstrokes. But I tested the battery's both are good and I changed the gpr and controller. No difference. Basically pouring white smoke after cranking for 10 sec at this point I'm 100% convinced it is the glow plugs I already bought them but I feel like its going to be a nightmare to change them Im praying that the plugs in it are not autolites or Bosch. :argh:
