95 7.3 rough idle and shut off

Ive had this truck for about 2 months now and it performed amazing the first two weeks and then troubles started showing. The first was a rough start up and idle which i attributed to fuel pressure, so I may do the FPR shim after hearing your responces.. Then a week or two ago the truck began to shut off pretty rough. About the same time the shut off problem began it started smoking white at start up for a minute or two while warming up.
My guess is the rings are bad and the fuel pump is falling below spec. What do you think?!

Thank you for the help!

And to pour salt into the open wound, on the drive home the brake booster went out making slowing down from 75 quite interesting. I'm fighting hard not to give upon this truck and would really appreciate some advice. Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated! Thank you!

I think i can attribute the brake problem to a faulty vac pump. any advice on the other stuff?

don`t give up step 1 get hold of a scan tool check fast and slow codes pending and history depending on scantool. start with that your problem may be a simple repair. check connectors at ipc, ipr idm and pcm also check for good grounds. owe and you might want to unplug and replug injector wire harness. but do all this one at a time and look for a change in problem. good luck. signed, always stuck in diagnostics:argh:

no start was due to faulty master cylinder linkage so I custom fabbed my own solution to that by drilling the welded plug out of the linkage arm and running a bolt with a long neck on it through the hole in the master cylinder push rod. works great now. vacuum pump is still faulty but thats gotten pushed down on the list due to destroying my dana 50 while tugging with a duramax. :argh:
