I have a good friend who works for ford who says the new lift pumps are blowing up and sending all the shards down the line into the engine thus blowing it up. And the worst part is ford is not covering it under their warranty. He also told me to stay the hell away from buying a new one.

I read those stories to and seen where diesel mechanics were havin those porblems, I'd say get a 7.3 idi or Powerstroke. :tu:

I have owned a 2008 6.7 cummins and I do own a 2011 powerstroke, they are both outstanding in my opinion. You can read about the dodge in my sig, and the ford has an h&s tuner with a dpf delete. the dodge made about 19~23 mpg and the ford makes 13~15 mpg. I did have quite a bit more done to my dodge, yet I beleive with just a tuner the ford has a chance to outrun it. (they both made about 10 mpg with the same trailer attached) P.S. Damn that ford is comfortable to ride in.

Watch Top Gear U.S., cummins shouldn't even be in the question.

my 6.7 f350 kingranch has had no problems and pulls awesome with its 800 ft lbs of torque. the tranny is awesome. i was getting 24 miles to the gallon the other day driving on the interstate and i havent done one thing to the truck its all stock. i wish i could run a 4 inch pipe all the way through and put some tuners on it and see what i could get but i gotta wait a few years to do that

From the sounds of it, the mileage deleted is close to the mileage stock anyways... they get pretty good mileage stock (6.7 powerstrokes).

Maybe you should check out the Valanx

Wow. First the 6.5 now a ford V8 for military use. Just put Cummins engines in all Military trucks and never think about them again.

I know you didn't just campare a 6.5 to the new powerstroke... that's a low blow even coming from a cummins guy....

Look I'm just saying you can get from point A to point B by cartwheeling or walking. You can power a diesel engine with tons of complications and just enough engineering (powerstroke) or you can overbuilt something and use as few parts as possible to do the same thing or more. Not saying the powerstroke is a 6.5...not at all...just saying that you can get yourself all sweating trying to do something with complications or you can cruise through with ease. You pick. I chose a mechanical cummins that just doesn't break to gently cruise through the finish line.
