Default '09 Tapping noise

Look be easy on me boys. I left working for Ford in 1993 and being a Cummins boy ... well I will get on with it.

Last nite I got the chance to checkout an brand new Super Duty 250 and man what a truck! The guy who has it is a tech for ford himself and has the truck for diag reasons. The DPF (#3) ? kept throwing a code and the pull over warning would display and shut the truck down. Had to wait about 15 minutes before restart. he was able to bypass whatever that was all about and has parts on order for it (Keep in mind it has 780 miles on it)

I was checking it out with glazed over eyes and when at idle a teeny "Tappet" tick can be heard. hold it at 1200 rpm and it becomes dominant. This was another complaint the customer had about the truck. Sounds like an unusual thing (Hell to me I would be happier than heck with my engine being 2x as loud as that truck ) for the p-stroke to tick like that the way he was talking.

Any takers on a ye or neigh if this is normal?

I guess one of the dealers in my area told me for some reason the 6.4s tick usually it becomes noticeable after the 1st oil change and they say it isnt hurting anything and ignore it. I dont understand but they say they have no idea what it is that makes the noise just that it isnt hurting anything

Tapping noise is normal, especially noticeable after an oil change. Do not attempt to repair this condition.

There's a TSB on it, but I can't recall the number offhand.
