6.4 sct tuner changed fuel filter not blowing much smoke just curious

I have a 2008 f350 6.4 super duty with sct tuner, afe intake, mbrp exhaust. My truck used to blow a decent amount of black smoke when I would hit the pedal, I recently changed my fuel filters and it barely blows and smoke. There's no white smoke which is a good thing but I'm guessing that since the filter is a lot cleaner it's just not smoking as much as it used to or could it be something else? I run my tuner on extreme and the truck has ran healthy since I bought it 6 months ago except for a message saying reduced engine power a couple weeks ago one time. Just curious to what anyone has to say?

Well a cleaner fuel filter should be flowing more fuel, not less.... Have you tried reading codes yet?

It just means your truck is running healthy.

No smoke or less smoke is actually a good thing. Just means youre not wasting fuel and your truck is running really well. :tu:

6.4 with Sct Tuner blowing black smoke

I just installed a SCT X4 tuner on my 2008 F-350 PSD anyways bone stock runs great with absolutely no smoke. As soon as I put the tune in it now blows black smoke even with the DPF on not a lot but nice little puff when accelerating hard and when you rev it up a little. Is this normal with the tune (performance tune) on the truck thanks for the insight!

I Also have encountered a similar issue. 2008 6.4l powerstroke i installed a sct 3015R deleted my dpf and currently have the truck set to performace (second most powerful setting for pre loaded tunes) now it used to give a burp of black when I laid the boot to her but it has begun to disipate. that being said there are other days when it will still blow some smoke. Im slightly concerned that something may be wrong. it burps a little on idle, and when its blowing less smoke it also has reduced power maybe (100 hp estimated). is this something i should be concerned about? if it helps it usually does this after ive been on the highway doing about 110kph and step on it. is the truck able to learn and adjust air fuel mixture on its own? any input would be appriciated. Also let me be clear im not out to fill the 3 lanes beside me with smoke im just concered that in this instance this may actually be bad. and the only code i pulled was a p1000 which means (OBD-II monitor testing is not complete). thanks guys.

Did you all put in complete new exhaust from the turbo back? If not the front half of the pipe is full of soot and grime. I mean alot too if you have miles on the truck with the dpf running. The issue now is your just cleaning the pipe back out, once the fuel and oil residue "drys out" the soot starts to come out making your exhaust darker at times it will clear out with miles. I am not filmilar with the sct system so i cant comment on any of that but just curious how do you all like them?
