Ford 6.0 OEM upgraded fuel pressure spring?
I have a 2007 6.0 powerstroke. It has ARP headstuds, brand new ford oem head gaskets, egr delete kit, and a new oil cooler. Now on with the question. Should i get the upgraded ford oem fuel pressure spring or would it be big issue with the stock one?

The question should be "why shouldn't you?" it's an easy and inexpensive enough mod that is should be a no brainer. Do the 6.4L Banjo Bolts while you're at it.

+1 too easy!!

spring and reseal kit only: 6E7Z-9C165-B
Tousley has them for like $35... |
You can put a bb in the brass cup in the regulator and boost your psi up 10 psi. Worked fine for me. Before it was 53 psi at idle and 45 psi at WOT. Now it is 63 psi at idle and 55 psi at WOT. From what I've heard 45 psi is the minimum and 75 is where you start blowing injector seals. Whatever you do you should have a guage to check the pressure to make sure it is right. I also did banjo bolts also. Trucks seems to idle a little smoother now.

Good advice, fuel pressure gauge is key.
I don't buy the 75psi myth either, I run my WVO side at a constant 75psi and have had it as high as 90psi. No issues... yet. |
ok. If i do the 6.4 banjo bolts and the fuel pressure rubuild kit will i still experience the low fuel pressure and have to purchase and air dog fuel system?

Morrison27, do you have fuel pressure guage or tester? Upgrading the spring cant hurt. If you still have low pressure (below 45) after that you might want to think about replacing your fuel pump if it is getting old. The banjo bolts increase flow not fuel pressure. Get yourself a coolant filter asap. I can tell you how to build a cheap guage if needed.

The spring can only up pressure, but it can do NOTHING for volume. Chances are if you're dropping low with what's in there under WOT, it's going to drop to the same amount with the new spring, but it will idle at a higher PSI.
You really should get a fuel pressure gauge before anything. It is the only way to tell what you really need here. |
I order my pods last week. The fuel pressure was one of them. I'm just waiting to receive and then they will be in my truck
