Hello
My name is Kristján Hagalín and I come from Iceland.
I have a problem with my 2003 F250 6.0powerstroke.
I was driving on a gravel road when he died, and did not start.
I disconnected the Edge Juice chip and replaced fuse 22 , it exploded when he died.

I start up again. and everything was fine until the next day. Then fuse 22 blew again and the car has not start up again. .

I have to disconnect the fan clutch, fuel heater in the frame, EBP sensor and air flow sensor.

What could be the problem?

Extras in the car are, webbasto Heater and I have changed the A / C pump in to air pump.

Sorry about my spelling :)

:humm:check the wiring going to and from the fan clutch. have seen several issues where the fan gets into the wiring or a wire is chaffed bad (rubbed raw).
I think that there was also a recall on that 03 harness. It might have just been a TSB. can't quite remember.
also, my 03 does have a problem with the pigtail that goes to the IPR. check that too.
Bad connections generate heat. heat causes blown fuses more often than faulty equipment.

Hagalin, welcome to DB. Sweet looking rig you have there. (1999 stroker, they drive these things on ice and all sorts of deep snow, they need the big tires for float).

Is there any chance you have access to a scanner? Can you try reading the trouble codes with your Edge?

Anyone here with an 03 that can tell me what the heck fuse 22 is?

Welcome to DB... Nice truck. Dang those tires sure make a crew cab look like a toyota! hahaha

What size tires?

Can I use my friends SCT computer to read my truck?

Mdub707 07-23-2012 08:56 AM

Yes, you can. If you can get codes that will help tremendously.

After you get this figured out, we would sure like some details and some more pics of that beast! :c:

Well, I went to the car yesterday with code reader.
And of course I could not read the computer because there is no power in it because it always explodes fuse numbers 22.
I took all three connectors from the computer but he blows fuse 22 onwards. Is it the wires from the key to the fuse or the wire from fuse for the computer that is causing this problem?
Can also be a speedometer converter that could cause this problem? He is aftermarket.

Can one of you other goobers with an 03/early 04 truck let me know exactly what fuse 22 is so we can help this guy out?

Thanks for sharing the pictures Hagalin, looks like a blast! :c:

If the code reader isn't coming on to read the codes, the OBD fuse is blown, which is also the cigarette lighter fuse. Have anything crazy plugged into the cigarette lighter port?

I'll look up what fuse 22 is, see if I can locate it and get back to you. It won't be until after work today though.

That's fine! Thanks Karl!

You said you have to unplug , fan cluch, ebsensor mass air, ect. does this keep the fuse fom blowing?? if so then an ohm meter will find the problem/ dont put the fuse in but plug all the components back in ad take an ohm rading at the fuse box-load side- to ground, it will be very low resistance, unplug one item at a time to find the shorted sensor, you will see the resistance go way up when the bad one is unplugged.
It is most likely going to be the EBP sensor, they are known for shorting on the early trucks and were takn out of the programming but if they short it can kill the truck.

Here's what I could find, it's not much, but...

http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pub.../03f23og5e.pdf

On page 178 and 179 you will find the location and description of Fuse #22. It is a 22A mini fuse titled Engine Control. What it does, where it goes from here, I have no clue.

Sorry that I can't be anymore help than this, but until electricity drips and makes puddles, I'm pretty dumb about it.

Mdub707 07-31-2012 07:42 AM

Karl, I'm with you man. I'm going to let Bob handle this one... :tu: haha
