Only down fall, they dont sell any of them in the U.S. Shping is thee killer. After i found out how they work, I bought Seafoam Top Engine Cleaner Sea Foam Spray - Sea Foam Sales Company and stopped every issue in one use. With the truck running, spray the entire can in to the turbo just past the MAS. You will hear the engine sound different while you're spaying. dont turn it off, replace hose, and go driving for about 20 minutes. My MPG was 9.6 city/16.1 hwy but now its 15.5 city/19.2 hwy.......and NO LAG!

I found the Seafoam at the local autoparts store. I was strongly considering purchasing the spray but I noticed in bold blue ( why not red..I don't know??? ) on the back of the can it specifically said not to use on intakes of diesel engines. I went to the website and found this information of the use of Seafoam spray on a diesel engine:

Jim’s answer:

Sorry to say that Sea Foam Spray Top Engine Cleaner and Lube cannot be used in the air intake of a diesel engine. I do not know of any cleaner on the market that can be used for cleaning diesel engines through the air intake, unless you’re first removing the air intake from the engine. You cannot spray any flammable liquid into a diesel engine. Instead, you can use Sea Foam Motor Treatment as a safe fuel additive for cleaning and maintaining diesel systems.

Sea Foam "Top Engine Cleaner" is non flammable and non toxic. I did the same processes and the other turbo cleaners i found, such as Revive and Forte, and it fixed my truck. Just remove the intake hose between MAS and the turbo (dont spray toward the MAS) spray half the can @ idle and half with the high idle on (to move the vanes.) Get on the highway and punch it. You will see the carbon s (white smoke) coming out the exhaust when get enough boost for a few minutes. All I know is, i keep my foot in it now just to hear the turbo scream. lol!

I"m fearful of spraying that stuff into my turbo becasue Seafoam says NOT TO do so on diesel engines. I may get the seafoam and put it in my tank.. my turbo runs fine so I"m good.

there's probably a good reason Seafoam says not to use it in a diesel, I would hate to find out the hard way.

I'm with you Big Brown ;)

Now if MudDub said it's ok...I would listen to him since he has a TON of Experience and knoweldge about the ford 6 liter. No disrespect to you guys, but his experience is someone I had always trusted ;)

Really miss Mike's input in these forums :(

I had to replace my oil cooler and did a few upgrades while I had it tore down. Since I had the turbo off I decided to clean it and found my unison ring needed replacing, so I rebuilt my turbo also(extra$100). Which brings my to a couple of observations about spraying any type of cleaner into the intake. 1) Any cleaner that gets into the turbo thruster bearing would probably not be good. 2) After removing my intake, soaking with it degreaser and blasting it out at the car wash, you really would be surprised about the amount of large chunks of crud that came out of it. A large crud chunk that gets stuck in a valve would not be good not to mention what could happen if it passed through and bounced around on your turbine. I am far from a diesel mechanic but I do question how you can eliminate turbo lag with a can of cleaner when my SCT tuner only reduces it. It might just be perception, I really don't know.

Gotta agree with clean, but be careful with sea foam in fuel. The stuff does a great job, but you need to add 2stroke oil for outboards to retain some lubricity for injectors. I would research other cleaners and find one you like such as optilube for cetane boost and cleaner all in one additive.there is a lot of info here and other good forums for diesels.

Funny, I used to use 2 cycle oil in my Duramax, but I"ve yet to use it in my 6 liter. Is 2 cycle oil in the fuel OK for the 6 liter's? How much if so?

Thanks guyz ;)

Opinions vary. I use about 8 oz to 25 gallons just for a little lube for injectors. I figure its meant to burn clean and lubricate outboards. . I don't see it hurting unless you add enough to thicken your fuel. . Seems a little smoother and runs well for what it is so I will keep using 2 stroke outboard oil.
