Yea I dropped the ball

Life kinda got in the way of me doing my dad's HG/ARP job. Both of us had other priorities to take care of. He still has the shopping list (that I have slightly modified a bit). My best guess would be this summer for the job. Don't worry I didn't forget about the write up lol.

You doing cab on or off? I think my plans have changed, and I will be doing mine cab on, as much as it's going to suck. But now it's got me thinking maybe I'll just pull the motor.... maybe I'll just put a cam in if it's out... etc etc. Parts list is getting out of control, may just NOT do that and stick to the original plan haha.

I would pull the motor, for the average person that doesn't have a lift it is the easiest way to do it. you just go ahead and pull the intake and oil cooler then unbolt the 2 uppies, once you lift the motor some you can undo the PS pump easy and the AC compressor easy/ that way you don't have to recharge the system/ of course you have water lines and elec. Even the trans mounts arent too bad, and the torque coverter bolts are a little tough but not that bad, buy 6 new ones when you go to put it together. unbolt the motor mounts and trans mounts/ you will want to put a jack under trans as you lift the motor. plus when you pull the motor you can pull the pan and make sure it is nice and clean,do this right before you put motor back in incase any debri got in there from cleaning top of block.
I made my own plate to attach the hook to from the motor lift, I use the holes for the turbo pedestal and one from the oil cooler in center to bolt to, I just used 5 oil cooler bolts to bolt it down/they are longer/ there is a guy that sells plates for this on ebay but they are pricey, about 180, if you make one make sure the pic point is right in front of the back the oil cooler hole, balances out perfectly.

Hmmm... have to think this one through.

I'll be doing it cab on, that's how I did mine and would rather do something I am familiar with (as back breaking as it is) than try to learn on the fly with pulling the motor. The truck helps bring in his money so it needs to be out of commission as little as possible, mine only took from Friday after work and we took it to lunch Sunday but I also had a spare set of heads that had been checked and decked.
