$6352.00 dollar repair on 6.0 Pwrstoke

Hi Folks,
Just got a quote to fix head problems on my 05 6.0 SD Powerstroke....... $6352.00.
That in includes Bullet proof EGR cooler and a bunch of upgrade stuff and normal "might as well now that we're here stuff" The guys that own the shop are pickup diesel techs only.
2400.00 parts and 4100.00 labor or so
I'm a cowboy and I need my F-350 to pull my 36ft RV Horse Trailer. It's my home.

ANYONE have any ideas to save me on these repairs....any comments :humm:

If they are diong water pump, ICP, STC upgrade, replace standpipes, and getting your injectors rebuilt then its still a little high IMO.

I live in the middle of a 13000 acres of cow lease just east San Francisco.
Labors high, so is the garage rent. If I was in Reno Nevada it would be cheaper.......trouble is there is NO WORK in Reno.

12v cummins it.

Sounds similar to what i just had done. mine was 45xx.xx 1900 in parts 2100 in labor and that includes machine work on the heads. new oil cooler,ARP studs, OEM head gaskets. STC, IPR oring and screen, standpipes and DPs. every gasket from the heads up including HPOP and screen. injector o-rings rockerbox gaskets, intake manifold gaskets. it was a cab off install so that will remove any discrepancy with the labor pricing. If you need a copy of the build sheet i can look around and possibly post it.

I am about to have just about the same thing as Arsenal done plus 175cc/stock nozzle injectors from warren diesel, powermax turbo, regulated return, amd coolant return lines done for about 6k. (cab off install) $1200 of that is the turbo and the regulated return is $650. The actual head stud job is $4k incuding all gaskets and head machine work.

Don’t forget all the "environmental" fees for disposal of "hazardous" materials like used gaskets and oily rags. California always seems to be ahead of the curve in finding new things to tax, without calling it a tax.

Hard to say without seeing a parts list and what is getting done. Can't comment on cost without that. For $6500 you could go buy a whole Dodge though... just depends what you want to drive I guess.

Cummins is always an option, if you have $15k to throw at it, or more. I believe Beans diesel does a turn key cummins setup for like $18,500.

No chance of doing the work yourself?

:humm: Could have sworn this thread was in the Conversion section:w2:

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

A Cummins could be put in it for a LOT less than 15K
