05 f250 leak

Ok so i just noticed a leak by my front bumper im guessn its coolant. Theres 2 tubes or hoses whatever u want to call them which is where its comn from does this sound serious or maybe just a clip malfunctioning has any1 else had this problem?

Could be either coolant or ATF at the front, is it coming from one of the 2 half inch lines toward the center of the radiator or the big line on the pass side? the 2 center lines are trans lines.

Leak

It is coming from the 2 smaller lines

They are transmission cooler lines, they are quick connect lines and they are a pain in the butt to get off, you need a Ford specific tool to release them, they are 1/2" and you might have to get them online, I couldn't find one in stores and wound up getting it from a Snap-On truck. You should be able to get new orings for them at the Ford dealer, pop the lines out, replace the orings and just pop them back in.

So what tool do i need so i can find out if any stores around me have it or my buddy has every tool under the sun so he might even have it?

bobfbigman 04-07-2012 07:46 PM

it is aquick release tool used on trans cooler lines just make sure to get an aluminum one, they make them in plastic too but I know I would have broken a plastic one trying to do it, from your home page click on images instead of web and type in ford quick disconnect tool and you will see what they look like. Remember it must say Ford 1/2" for later model trucks. it will be stepped, not straight like all the others,, you will see what I meen when you look at them.

ok so you say i need an oring i was looking online but i have no idea what orings i need do you have any more detailed info on the name of oring or a website that sells them?

I believe that will be a ford dealer only part. transmission cooler line quick connect fitting on the radiator. is how I describe the part.

I just replaced a trans cooler in an 04, you dont NEED a special tool but they are a total pain in the:moon: to get off. Is it a cracked line, or a faulty trans cooler? i line shouldnt be too much of a problem but if its the cooler it can be a bit pricy but not very hard to do at all. I would recommend guiding the lines back up towards the trans cooler before trying to remove the trans cooler because the metal bend in the line can get caught on various things going up. oh, and MAKE SURE you have a drain pan ready! Goodluck! :c:

I am pretty sure he is talking about the lines in the trans, not the cooler, the lines go into the trans first then to the cooler.
