not sure im not good with brakes i had any appointment for next week to get the pads and rotors replaced but now i have this problem and i wasnt sure if it was a brake cylinder or a brake booster or even how to tell which is bad if either? any help would be great
|
Well the booster is under the hood so we can eliminate that.
Probably just a cylinder. Take the wheel off and see what it is. |
Drum brakes or disc? Probably a broken wheel cylinder or caliper, or attaching hardware. Pretty much gotta take it apart to know for sure. At least you were already planning on brake work, right?:w2:

lol sorry i told you i dont know much bout brakes. I was looking at some cylinders on advance auto website and they are priced anywhere from $89-214 what is the diffrence? im kinda handy i might try to replace this myself is there any advice you can give a first timer replacing a brake cylinder?

Well I wouldn't go buying parts until we know what it is. Jack the back end up, take the wheel off and snap some pics for us. The rear brakes are relatively simple on these things. A few basic hand tools can do any part of this brake job.
Need to figure out what it is first. Eddie, all of the superduties from 99-current are all disc brakes rear. |
Cool, disc brakes have pretty well taken over, but drums still hang on in some applications, wasn't sure if this was one or not.:c:

It took me 15 minutes to put pads on my 150, and a hour for rotors and pads.

I would think it is a caliper/disk brakes/ wasn't aware they still used drum brakes on an 05
