Question..

I am currently wanting to kick up the HP a little bit on my truck, but without throwing out tons of $$.

I was thinking of adding a triple guage pod, EGR delete, and some custom Innovative SCT tunes.

What tune would be safe to run WITHOUT head studs? And also what guages should i get to moniter?

Truck is an 03 6.0 with the 5R110 tranny.

I have sct with custom tunes most people say that evey truck is diff as to how far u can push it none are the same, but i got tunes from innovative diesel got a tow and street and a extreme street and love them. but i did do a Egr delete and replaced the oil cooler

coolant filter is VERY IMPORTANT

Ltk 03-21-2012 07:46 PM

ok so coolant filter and egr delete should be fine? im not going to be using drag racing tunes and flooring the crap turds out of it every day. i will be mainly running economy and extreme street. and whenever i go get 300 bails of hay ill be running the tow of course

anybody know any good coolant filters and mind sending me a link to one?

03Powerstroke 03-21-2012 07:49 PM

sinister are good, just google "coolant filter"

egr delete and coolant filter will be the best things you can do for your truck, along with proper maintance:c:

sounds good to me! im buying a River city diesel EGR delete because of the cheaper price. ill look around for a coolant filter. just trying to get some prices. got the windows tinted today, but didnt explain how i wanted them exactly, so i gotta pay more to have more tint slapped over it :argh:

03Powerstroke 03-21-2012 07:53 PM

lol i gota get my tint re-done cause the dirt scraped it up:dang:

Ltk 03-21-2012 07:54 PM

yea man i understand how that goes.. i tried to cram a fishing pole in the back of mine and no joke the hook caught the corner of it somehow... ripped a gash in it... i got 5% all the way around, but they stripped the 2 front windows then put 5%.. i meant just add the 5% overtop of everything, but i guess i wasnt clear enough.. i know the guy though so its all good

03Powerstroke 03-21-2012 07:57 PM

my friend just had his done, bunch of bubbles.. it looks like s*%t :D

Ltk 03-21-2012 08:07 PM

mine has a bubble in it, but they said it would somehow go away in a couple days. if it doesnt ill be getting it redone for free. the guy i know owns the shop, not the dumba$$ workers

Ltk 03-21-2012 08:26 PM

ok man sounds good to me

ntmdtr3fan 03-21-2012 08:56 PM

I just put the MKM ( Sinister ) coolant filter kit in my truck. Took all of about 20 minutes to install it. Pretty simple really. As for gauges.. Fuel pressure gauge is most important in the 6.0s. And the other 2 would be the Engine Oil Temp and Engine Coolant Temp gauges.

Ltk 03-22-2012 09:08 AM

yea looks simple as hell to put on. so fuel pressure, EOT, and ECT? what about exhaust gas temps and boost?

Mdub707 03-22-2012 09:55 AM

The three nmtmdtr3fan noted are probably the most important 3. You will definitely want a pyro gauge if you're running a tuner. Boost isn't necessary, more for the "cool" factor. Though in your case your truck doesn't have one factory, where the 05+ one's do, so I already had one factory. Usually you can tell what the turbo is doing by watching the tail pipe though. I don't think that's an important one to get right away, if you can't afford all of them.
