Idler noise?
I am getting a noise that sounds like a bad idler pully... It sounds like it is directly under the drivers seat but outside of the truck... It doesn't do it at idle or at any certain rpm at a stop... It does it going down the road when you let off and coast. It don't do it under say 5mph... It's not the idler pully or a bad belt I'm stumped on this one!? I checked the u joints and they are good and it doesn't sound like its coming from the wheel bearing... And it's not something rubbing I checked and nothing loose under there... It almost sounds like something in the tranny? Which has me worried bc of the minor slip I had the other day...
Has anyone had this same issue before? I'm trying to get a friend to check under there will I'm driving but it's pretty dangerous lol |
What kind of noise is it ? high pitch or low? is it a hissing sound or even a WHOPP WHOPP sound??
|
It's loud skweak noise like a bad pully on a belt system... But it's right under the drivers seat
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- High pitch noise |
Like a tea kettle whistle when you let off the throttle? :pca1:
|
Not a tea kettle it sounds just like a squeaky idler pully kind of like a belt slipping? I have been doind some research and the best I can come up with is the torque converter?
|
maybe just a ujoint, hopefully:humm:
|
I'm going to take the front drive shaft off to see if that changes and recheck the rear u joints... But I've never heard a ujoint make this noise
|
They can certainly make those noises. I highly doubt you can hear the torque converter...
Tough to say without the truck in front of us... this is odd. Definitely let us know what you find. |
Took it out on the high way and ran her for awhile and only got my lie-0-meter to go to 9.0mpg lol. The noise went away after the drive... So I'll let it cool back down and check it again
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- And I also just noticed that the factory oil pressure gauge does not move for atleadt 10 seconds when I start it...? It seemed like it had a miss to it while I was cruising on the highway too? |
