No get up and go
 

Hello all! I had a previous post of bent push rod and broken valve. That problem has been resolved and thanks for the great advice. No the truck seems to have no get up and go. Runs great, no backfire, no unusual smoke. Normal driving it hits all the shift points and gets to the spped you want however, if you floor it, it just creeps up in speed. I can hear the turbo spool up and I also seperated the exhast before the cat to check for restrictions. I also do not have any codes. Any ideas? Thanks again.

You should take a few minutes to fill out your signature so we don't ask the same questions over and over and we know what is done to the truck. What mods do you have done? Stock? Programmer? I try, but I read way too many posts a day by too many different people to remember who has what. I forget what is on my own truck most days... :pca1:

Sorry about that. This is a military vehicle so it doesnt belong to me. It is just a stock 2003 F350 with the 6.0l engine. I recently replaced head gaskets, glow plugs, one push rod and rocker. New oil cooler and all the top end gaskets and o rings. Runs great other than no umph when you want to move now.

How does the truck start after sitting overnight? Nothing else funny about the truck? No smoke when under WOT? Do you know how it ran before to compare it? I mean these trucks are pretty slow factory haha.

It starts up great after sitting over night. It actually runs better now then it did since new. I read a thread about the turbo and how the computer needs to relearn the VGT .
I had the cab off and the batteries disconnected for almost a month so I may try that tomorrow when I get back to work. Do you think that is a possibility?

Possibility yes, but I can't see it being noticeably slower... I mean I can see it running... "different" but not this much slower. Might be worth while checking fuel pressure too. Last time fuel filters were changed?

Is this the first time you've run it? Is it possible the high pressure oil system just hasn't been fully bled yet? You can check this with the scanner, see what desired and actual ICP are... if actual is low, it probably just has some air in there. I think the procedure was to run it at 3000 RPM for a few minutes. You can just romp the crap out of it driving down the road a few times to get it bled too. It can take a while.

What can of symptons would a turbo give if faulty? Seems to work ok in my opinion. The truck seems to run fine but if you want to kick into a passing gear it wont go above 40MPH. Once you let off the pedal it will eventually pick up speed and I can have it up to 75MPH. I'm wondering if I am attacking the wrong area. maybe a trany issue.

May check the map sensor hose??? Just a thought mine was kinda like that and the hose was broke!

also, check the wire connections on the back of the FICM

You have access to a scanner right? Try monitoring ICP desired and actual when you're driving.

Could also be the EPB sensor, you can monitor that as well. The EPB on these clogs up after a while and then it simulates turbo issues.

When you're at 40mph and you romp on it and it doesn't go anywhere, does it smoke at all?
