Could this be coming from my turbo?

Just remembered last week i started dripping oil under my truck. She's got 126000 2003 6.0L CC SB completely stock. i read on here someone else having problems with it and it made me think of it. Just about a two or three days later my turbo started getting a high pitch whine when i accelerate higher than 2000 rpms. Could it be a O ring cracked and its leaking where the line goes into the turbo? Maybe not putting enough oil in it to lubricate it?? The only place i can really find oil is on the bellhousing. Oil pan is clean as can be. So this is my guess.

Most common oil leak on 03 and early 04 trucks is from the ICP sensor that is on the HPOP wich is on top of motor at backside, the oil presure is so high it works its way right through the sensor and eventually it will make the sensor fail to work properly. Also the 03 and early 04 turbos are known for there loud whine, most notable after exhaust and intake upgrades, my truck sounds like a semi climbing a hill, but if this just started I am leaning toward a cracked itercooler boot, check the blue boots, all 4 of them, 2 at intercooler.1on output of turbo,1on intake elbo.

Possibly a cracked up-pipe too.

i got a issue aimed towards this, i just did my EGR delete on my truck and got everything put back together and when i started my truck and the turbo began to cycle there is a loud air escaping sound and after it cycles it stops. I know my down pipe clamp is fucked but replacing that today could that have something to do with the sound? also before the delete i had great power now nothing no boost or smoke just horrible exhaust smell.:argh: idk what else it could be and dont wanna take it to a shop to be told its a leak i could fix in my shop. Any help would be great thanks.

sounds like up pipe cracked and leaking or the up pipe flange at the turbo isnt seated correctly

dam it could still be cracked even tho it ran like a champ before i took the turbo out? and any tricks to seat that SOB pipe, imma try rachet strap trick and pull it toward the front of the engine while i clamp it but other ideas all open for lol

The first egr delete i did on a 6.0 had a problem with seating the exhaust to the turbo, since then i've left the turbo loose untill i had the exhaust all clamped up havent had a problem since. Just what i've learned

alright got ya, is there a part on the inlet pipe that sits inside the turbo receiver for the exhaust?

bobfbigman 03-14-2013 05:43 PM

The easiest way is to loosen both uppipes then line up the Y-pipe to the turbo and tighten clamp on it, the Ypipe and turbo have a seating ring to get it lined up right, there should be no gap between the 2 when mated up right. this is a very common leak for people that remove the turbo the first time.
