alright I got a problem. I got a 2005 Ford F-250 6.0L Super Duty Diesel 4x4 that doesnt run. The owner was going up a small incline when the truck lost power and died. Well, we have pulled off the filter cap and the fuel pump is pumping fuel, but its not firing. We put our brand new snap on computer scanner we got not even a week ago on it, and it threw 2 codes. A CMP code and a CKP code. Dont ask me what these mean, thats why im here lol. is there anything that anyone can think of that may be wrong with it? Please reply asap. This is a cusomers vehicle we are working on.

they are cam and crank sensor codes but those will set if engine turns over a bunch and doesnt start. So if youve been cranking on it alot before you read codes, id clear them and see if theyll reset with a koeo test.

I am also a newbie but ran into the problem where my 6.0 PSD would crank and crank w/o starting - towed it to dealer -once at dealer it started. Tech told me it was the ICP (passenger side valve cover). He told me if situation happened again to shut off the truck - unplug wire harness to ICP and let it sit for a while to reset itself. Haven't run into that problem since so I haven't had the need to test the theory.

Charge battery and check ficm. There is a thread At the very top as to how to test it. Best place to start. Is it smoking any while cranking?

Yeah do this. No smoke while cranking means injectors are NOT firing. This should be really simple to diagnose with the scanner. Check FICM voltage with a multi-meter. With the scanner check for ICP desired and compare that to ICP actual. ICP should be around 525psi minimum to fire the truck. You should also see what IPR duty cycle is doing while checking these other two, and then report back here. Could be a bad HPOP, could be a leak in the high pressure oil system, could just be a FICM.

Those other codes... like Miller said, those codes are thrown when someone is trying to crank the truck over and over and it's not starting. They're falsely thrown. Those two items almost never go bad on 6.0's and certainly not at the same time. Crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor.

Thanks everyone! This means alot! No smoke when cranking tho no. We have been stumped all week on how to fix this truck. Im not at work atm, obviously, but i will be at 11 35 tomorrow. That is the next time ill be on here. Please keep the suggestions coming because this is money on the line lol
