They are 9008

If you can't find out what the bulbs are you prob don't know to much about HID lights so im gonna try and help.

The "k" in 5000k or what ever number you choose stands for kelvin. It's the color temperature. But the higher the number the darker the color. For instance a 10,000k hid is gonna be significantly darker than say a 4500k.

Now the wattage. Now days there are 35watt and 55watt. That is where your brightness comes into play. A 55w is much brighter than a 35w. However unless you are willing to pay top dollar you won't get a 55w bulb you will get a 55w ballast which powers the bulb and the bulb will only be 35w so it like hooking up a 5000 watt amp to a 500 watt sub. Yeah it will hit hard for a little while but soon you will blow your sub. See what im saying.

For your dad I'd get him a 35w 4500k-6000k kit depending on your dad though me personally i like the 6000k kit they are a solid white with a hit of purpleish blue almost silver in color if he's the type of guy that has a stock truck I'd get him 4500k though similar color to stock but a little more whit and a lot more bright. But if he's not your every day dad and has some custom show car with a 30" lift and crazy paint job by all means get him some 30,000k hid kit he wont be able to see at night but in his head other drivers will think he's cool haha I'm just kiddin.

Hope this helps what you might want to do is look at youtube videos and type in the company who makes the kit and then the color temp. For instance Philips 35w 4500k" and I'm sure there will be a ton of people showing off their lights which will give you an idea on what color they are.

A place you can check out is ddmtuning.com I swear by them I've bought about 9 sets so far for all my family members. they are really cheap they ship fast they are in california and have a life time warenty. But for that company there are lovers and haters some of their kits last for ever others not so long. If you do go throgh them though get the digital slim kit. Post pics when they are installed if you do get him a kit and let us know which one you got

Because I personally HATE being blinded by HIDs, I would recommend a Slyvania replacement that is brighter than stock, but not going to make oncoming traffic see spots. Your friendly nieghborhood O'Reilly's or Auto Zone parts monkey should be able to help you find the right one for your application. Becareful installing, the plastic twist lock isn't very strong. DON"T TOUCH THE ELEMENT WITH YOUR FINGERS! Bad joo joo!

I used to run Cessna landing lights that I got from NAPA on my pre-runner bar (narrow/BRIGHT beam) for the idiots who insisted to drive HIDs on hi beam at me. :bat:
