any roughness to the engine? smoke when its doing it? has the turbo ever been replaced?

what brand fuel filters and oil filter do you use? have you checked your oil level?

Ever have the FICM replaced or tested for any reason?

no roughness, no smoke, turbo had a some kind of ring replaced last month when ford replaced #8,#3, injectors, standpipes, Hpop, Use Shell Rotella 15 w 40 use motorcraft filters, oil level is fdine just changed around 1000 miles ago but i keep an eye on it cause it does use some oil. The truck does smoke when first startred pretty heavy untill it has warmed up does not matter the tewmp i live in Ohio and we have been having spring temps 50,s 60,s white smoke, Put new batteries in two nights ago it did it today and i checked the voltage while surging it was 14.1

your talking 14.1V from the alternator? thats perfect.

what color smoke are you seeing? how long will it crank before it starts?

im thinking a possible turbo issue?

yes between 47.4 - 48 on all three it seems to surge most when the engine is cold. But it has also done it while hot. I started looking at turbos on ebay and bought a used garret stock, off of 06 with 66,000 miles wasa pulled to put an upgrade on (must have more money than he knows what to do with) LOL. I bought it for 200 it has sat for 5 months is there anything i should do or check before install.
