HELP lots of white smoke
I have an 04 f350. The other day It started to idle rough and produce a lot of white smoke. once past idle it runs fine and when i let off the pedal it has one large puff of white smoke. I checked it with AI no trouble code. Talked a tech he said it was the ERG so I got a delete kit and its still doing it. its not using water as far as i can tell. Could it be an injector O-ring?
Im racking my brain trying to find out what it is... :argh: |
how well does it start? how many miles on it? any other mods? how has it been used(tow rig, dd)? whats the smoke smell like(sweet or does it burn your eyes)??
|
no mods other than the egr kit. i dont know about the smell of the smoke. its a very thick smoke. it has 100,000 on it. its taking just a longer time to start than it used to.
|
test your FICM, its pretty easy to test and that could possibly be your problem
|
How can the FICM cause that much smoke? How do i test the FICU? Buzzed the injectors and then while running shut off the injectors 1 by 1 and they where fine....How do i test the FICU?

---AutoMerged DoublePost--- mine was starting hard, rough idle, LOTS of white smoke... it kept getting worse til i had NO power and eventually NO start! |
Smell the smoke and let us know if it's coolant (sweet smelling) or fuel (burns your eyes a little). That will tell us everything.
|
its fuel.. I pulled the voltage of the FICM and its 40v.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- btw the 40v is on 12.5v bats. there are charging now. im starting to think that it is an injector. |
anything lower than 46-48v is bad, BUT bad batteries kill FICMs
|
it started a few months ago right before i went to iraq. so i parked it and now im back they and the bats are low. im still leaning more on the stuck injector
