stutter?

The truck is a 2003 f250, sct livewire, sinister egr deleter, arp headstuds, k&n intake, brand new oil filter and both fuel filters all from ford and brand new jasper tranny

The truck seems like it runs fine but is now after the hg install has a stutter problem when driving if you punch it. It goes good and fast and when the rpms get up a little nearing shift point it stutters

HG install?

sounds like its starving. have you ever noticed any metal or shiney flakes in your fuel filters when you changed them?

billiard 12-10-2011 06:24 PM

The filters looked fine when they were changed and now that I think more it was stuttering before the hg install but I wasn't sure if the tranny was the cause or not since the tranny was totally shot

what exactly is a hg install? im looking at the list of what you replaced and i cant seem to figure out what hg stands for. that would really help me haha.

has anybody ever looked at the screen at your hpop? is there any way you can look at your fuel pressures and high press. oil pressures?

bobfbigman 12-10-2011 10:51 PM

HG= head gasket??

billiard 12-10-2011 11:02 PM

Yes hg stands for headgasket...my bad. I haven't checked the fuel pressure yet I plan to tomorrow, I just received the adapter the other day.

I havent checked the hpop yet, im not really sure how to go about that either

wow...... :argh:

anyways, you havent noticed any drips anywhere have you? did you replace all your O-rings in your fuel system when you did the head gasket? my thought is, when your getting into those high rpm's, it starts sucking more fuel, if you have a weak spot (O-ring) it'll start sucking air causing your stutter.

you can use a mechanical gauge for your fuel pressure.
to check your high pressure oil, you can either "dead head" the pump itself and use a mechanical gauge, or use a scantool that will do datastream. youll see a spot for either high pressure oil, or desired injector actuation pressure.

I don't see any leaks anywhere and every o ring and gasket was changed during the hg install

I just checked fuel pressure and got 54 psi at idle and koeo, when in drive and in the throttle with foot on the brake it pretty much stays at 54 but crept up to 56 psi

You need to read it when driving down the road and doing WOT runs.

How much have you run it since the HG's? You could still have air in the high pressure oil system, takes a while for it to bleed out fully.

Its been a month since the hg install and im pretty sure it was doing this before the hg install
