Best placement for Pyro?

where is the best place to install a EGT probe on the exhaust manifold?

Driver's side exhaust manifold.........

Yes that is where i installed my but i have also heard it is better on the down tube of the turbo. I would think that is a bad place because you’re not getting the correct temp coming out of the engine. You’re getting it out of the turbo.

I’m looking to hook up a second pyro on the other passenger side exhaust manifold. But i was just wondering why the best placement is on the driver’s side and the difference between the back of the turbo down tube.

This is where im fairly sure gas motors and diesel motors are the same. Because of the routing of the exhaust system on these motors, physics would dictate that the rotation direction of the motor would correspond to the exhaust manifold that would be the most accurate temperature coming out of the cylinder head. The O2 housing directly off the turbo or the downpipe would have some inaccuracy to them based on turbo housing constriction in the exhaust side of the turbo into the 02 housing, and the sheer distance from the turbo on the downpipe would allow some cooldown time. I hope this makes a lick of sense to you. Im pretty bad at explaining the dynamics of a turbocharged system...but it makes sense in my head. :sen: LOL

I've posted pics on here several times, try searching for it using my username possibly.

ok well i put in the other pyro this lastweekend. on the passenger side exhaust manafold.

You've got one on each bank now? What's the reasoning behind that? Interesting...

:moon:I have one on each manifold and post turbo.:s: They are just not all hooked up yet!:argh:

Well i had bought gauges for a pillar mount and already had a pyro for the banks 6 gun so i just decided to have both. One for each manifold. There is no real point, just fun.
