should i delete my egr
I have a 2005 f250 113000 miles do i need to delete my Egr system i dont want to have to worry about that but is it a good ideal I'm puttin a livewire with idp tunes on it its got a 5 inch exhaust with stock intake what should I do
Delete it if you want my opinion! Bullet proof diesel has some good reads on the subject.
I bought one local with a lifetime warranty they pretty easy to change?
I don't know about easy, we do the deletes very often so its just another day for us. If you don't have basic hand tools, common sense and mechanical ability it would be best left for someone else to tackle.
DELETE IT. it makes the truck a little more reliable and less of a pain
And a sct livewire with idp tunes and a coolant filteration system are they worth it?
i wouldnt tune the truck til its studed, coolant filter is a must
So for sure order the coolant filter? I just want the sct for fuel milage and to read data numbers boost fuel press and stuff like that?
i would order it... and if your gana use the sct for mialage it will be ok, just dont run extreme tunes cause you'll blow a hg
Well since im ordering the filter kit who heas the best one? And on the sct should I go ahead and get extreme tunes for when i do stud it and just run it in econo mode? What do yall suggest
Sinster MFG and dieselsite.com both sell coolant filters, they're basically the same thing, just pick whichever you think looks cooler.
The livewire is a good choice with IDP tunes. Just don't be an idiot with the hot tunes and you should be OK. The best mileage tunes are the hottest one's, so it's a double edged sword. Do you have the self control to not rag the truck all the time? Then go for it. papachuck on here runs an 03 with an extreme race tune every day without issues. Also, to read fuel pressure or EGT's you'll need extra's for the livewire (or any pod mount for that matter). An EGR delete is a good idea. |
My delete Egr delete kit will be here tomorrow morning and as far as reading
Fuel pessure with the livewire what else would i need? |
I recently started running an Xtreme tune every day, but I have had my truck for 5 years and drive like a grandma. If I had tried to run an Xtreme tune on a daily basis when I first got it, I would have broken something for sure in short order. So I'd stay with Aggressive street if I were you.
Having just deleted my EGR cooler, I'll say two things: I waited too long and I'm leaving the EGR valve in to prevent the computer from popping a code due to an open circuit. So far so good. Ok, 3 things, look at all day Saturday AND Sunday to do your EGR cooler delete. I'm a pretty fair wrench, and it took me two days. I broke EVERY exhaust bolt I touched, and my 23 y/o son helped me on the first day. Mileage, pffft! If you want mileage, keep 285/75s on it or buy a Prius! I've run Edge and SCT and as far as daily driving goes, NEITHER did anything. On a 750 mile, one way cross country, SCT Xtreme Race did give better numbers than Aggressive Street, but that was 12hrs of freeway. Finally, I got pretty positive results by removing the front of that restrictive air box and putting in an AiRaid washable filter. I couldn't see paying K&N $200 for the same box I already have. |
Karl, what were your mpg numbers on the 750 road trip??
17~18 on Xtreme, 15 on Aggressive Street. The speedo was indicating 62, and my GPS verified I was doing 68.
