Mdub would the livewire be worth the extra $80 in your opinion and can it change tunes on the fly? I already have my pillar pod gauges

No it cant change tunes on the fly. You don't want on the fly tuning for a 6.0. The main reason is the transmission is physically incapable of accepting flashes while the truck is running. So the only way to properly tune the trans (which directly leads to a long trans life), is to shut the truck off and load a new program. On an 03/04 truck this process takes about 5 minutes, on an 05-07 truck it's a hair under 2 minutes.

The livewire is a nice unit for guys who don't want to buy stand alone gauges. I myself prefer my stand alone gauges, but the livewire is still a nice unit. Whatever tuner you buy from Innovative, you can still get the tunes for free from them. Being you already have gauges on the pillar, just get the handheld tuner IMO. X3 or SF3. They're basically the same. X3 only holds 3 custom tunes, and the SF3 holds 3 custom and 3 pre-programmed, but you shouldn't really be using the pre-programmed stuff anyways. Stick with custom.

I checked my tuner, it has 5 unlocks left and it says it's unmarried. couldn't find the strategy number though. looks like it save to my pc but i can't read it because i can"t open the file. it an .lbu file or something.

To read your strategy you need to plug the SCT into the truck and read it right from the truck. there should be a menu for "vehicle info" go to that, then there should be an option to "read strategy" I believe, or something along those lines.

You put the truck back to stock right? I guess the first one doesn't count as an unlock?

yeah, i put it back to stock before i gave it to the dealership.

It will work on basically any Ford vehicle, you will more than likely just need to have your own tunes wrote for your truck.

It's a SLIM chance it could work as is. Basically he would need to know his strategy, you would need to know yours, which I'm guessing neither of you can do right now, since he got rid of his truck, and you don't have this programmer in which to read it with. On top of that, tuners right tunes for the mods on your truck, 2 or 4 wheel drive, auto or stick, the size of tires you have on there, and lastly, your strategy. So the chances of the tunes being exactly what you need... almost no chance. That's ok though, you can still use the tuner, I would just plan on buying tunes after that are made for your truck.

So you would buy the tuner, get it to your house, read the strategy off of your truck, then contact the vendor of your choice and give them all this info, and they write you a tune and email it back to you. You load it from your computer to your SCT, then from the SCT to the truck!

It's really simple once you start doing it, but without doing it, I'm sure it sounds intimidating.:c:
