replaced film with a rebuilt

Hey guys, Ok i had a rough idle, pulled codes got a high circuit in cylinder2,3,5,8. Ficm tested 48 volts. Everybody said still ficm. Replaced it within a rebuilt. checked my trucks build date 3/12/04. Said the new ficm was for a ruck after 9/22/03.

Put it in truck cranked right up. Seemed good. Then noticed a off die. Hard to explain. Not rough, but not perfect. A little off. Drove for a while and when in drive at top gear some misfire. Front end began to shake. Kicked down a gear with the pedal and seems good. Can drive freeway speed and seems fine Just in high gear seems to misfire.
Can this film be a different flash then my old one. Or do you think something else is wrong. No smile when running

Only problems now are the semi off idle and the misfire in high gear.

by the way my truck is a 2004 f350 6.0 build date 3/12/04.

You can use any year FICM on any year truck, I sell them all the time.

When you test the FICM are you testing it with key on, engine off, then testing cranking, then test running? It needs to be tested in all 3 conditions. Before replacing the FICM I would strongly suggest you have your batteries load tested, as well as the alternator.

Where did your rebuilt FICM come from?

Your miss in higher gears just sounds like sticking injectors. Have you tried any Rev-X yet? It works miracles.

I would suggest at least testing the batteries first though, and make sure it's a load test, not just a multimeter. :c:

i tested it key on, i testing it running I did notice once while cranking, it might have dropped to 39. But i was really testing that. Batteries were original, but replaced both.I have not tried Rev-X. Where can you get it?

Mdub707 11-29-2011 07:57 AM

It shouldn't be dropping to 39 at any point... no matter what...

I'm not sure if any of the vendors here sell it anymore, but I'd have to imagine they do. Post up in the vendors section and see if you get any response.

Ok just got check engine light. Checked codes PO0283 cylinder 8 injector circuit high. No what?

03Powerstroke 11-29-2011 07:01 PM

is that the only code?

Jimmysd 11-29-2011 07:34 PM

Yes

Last week when all this started I had 4 , cylinders 2,3,5 and 8. The truck barely had power in gear and a rally rough idle. So i replaced the ficm, and it started right up. Although the idle is a little off and in high gear it sometime seems to misfire.

03Powerstroke 11-29-2011 07:38 PM

what im saying is are you still geting those codes along with PO0283 or did they go away after ficm replacement?

Jimmysd 11-29-2011 10:21 PM

all the other codes went away.

The only code now is the po0283

the other codes went away with the film replacement

You could try swapping that injector to another hole and trying again, if the code follows it's a faulty injector, if it stays then it's an electrical issue somewhere before there.
