icp sensor removal
 

Can i replace the icp sensor without removing the turbo and plumbing? Trucks a 03 6.0. Wondering if anyone has replaced from under neath?

Do not try it from underneath!!!!!!! I did and it took me two days,,,,

Remove the degas bottle
diconnect the Ficm on the drivers side valve cover, then remove the ficm
with these 2 out of the way you should be able to see the ICP sensor toward the back
there is a heat shield in the way but you can bend it out of the way or unbolt it
there is a socket made for it but I fabbed one
also make sure when you get the new one you use the new leads that come with it.
should be able to do this in an afternoon. Good luck

did as u said, removed degas and ficm... can see a sensor back there but isnt that the ipr sensor? does not look like the sensor i got from ford and my part #matches the correct sensor posted. I have this truck so torn apart right now, hours in and can not find it anywhere behind the turbo! This sucks any help would be great... I've felt around behind the turbo near the hpop and dont feel or see any wires back there. WTF... funny thought, there is a three wire sensor that looks exactly like the one I bought in front of the drivers side valve cover with what looks like a oil line that runs down in to the side of the drivers side block...oil pressure sensor? any help?

sorry it took me so long to get back, on the high pressure oil pump cove there are 2 electronic devices, the one toward the front is the IPR, the one on the back is the ICP sensor, it is on the cast iron cover, it has some foil backed heat sheild wrapped around it also, remember there is a heat sheild that may be in the way, might be hard to see if you don't know exactly what and where to look

bobfbigman, thanks for all you help... i had so much apart today it was rediculous! I found the sensor and replaced it after i realized it was covered by the heat rap. Ended up getting it from drivers side underneath. If I had not tore so much off the top of the engine it would have only taken me two hours or so... oh well next time I know. Thanks again to all that responded and helped! Road test tomarrow.

drove the truck early this morning and was really surprised with the differance! Less throttle needed to achieve the same power, truck was idling smoother than it has in over half a year! Power comes on very linear without the boggish dead spot I was feeling between 40 and fifty mph. She purs like a lion right now. Im keeping my fingers crossed and knocking on wood right now hoping this was the issue for the surgeing and bad idle.... the next couple weeks will tell. But today Im thrilled so far and drinking far to many beers to celebrate!:c:

Fart! trucks acting up again this morning. Short lived victory. Tomarrow moving on to FICM. After changing the ICP the truck is a lot more responsive then it was. Perhaps moving in the right direction?!!??...

Definitely sounds like it needed to be replaced anyways, so not really a loss there. Test the FICM and get back to us.

ficm---48+ volts ign. on, cranking and running. So on to fuel pressure? I think I have a injector problem!!

This still sounds electrical to me, you only seem to have issues some days and none on other days. Fuel pressure is easy enough to check anyways, so that wouldn't hurt to do. Didn't you say you had an injector balance test run already by left coast?
