Have the updated oil cooler installed if you haven't aready. My truck is going in for the same thing in two weeks.:tu:

ATX6132 08-04-2011 08:20 AM

Where did u buy urs at and how much?

Mdub707 08-04-2011 12:03 PM

What updated cooler??? Don't know of such a thing...

I would use OEM gaskets, do the oil cooler for sure, and the HPOP screen. I wouldn't change the HPOP unless you're having issues, or you have a ridiculous amount of miles on the stocker. Don't fix it if it aint broke kind of thing. Nothing else really comes to mind for an 04, but I'll think about it some more.

07arcticm8 08-04-2011 05:19 PM

The Diesel shop that I'm taking my truck to asked if i have the new oil cooler in my truck so it may not be a brand new one per se.....but it may be new to my truck since it looks bone stock and it is the first 6.0. Mdub...didn't they revise the oil cooler with the screen after 2003-04 time? Maybe I miss read it somewhere.

ATX6132 08-04-2011 06:45 PM

thanks alot mdub

Artic
maybe u misunderstood for the upgraded egr cooler? cuz i kno ive heard that bs before haha EGR's suck period, no matter how (upgraded it is) my .02 tho

07arcticm8 08-04-2011 07:09 PM

Yeah true that! But maybe the the mechanic told me he would rebuild the oil cooler and put the new oil cooler screen in that was updated back in 2007 from cloth to stainless steel. I may have miss understood that. Sorry for the miss info:argh:

Mdub707 08-05-2011 09:04 AM

Are you guys thinking of the HPOP screen?

07arcticm8 08-05-2011 08:51 PM

Yeah that is the screen I was talking about. I just knew it as the oil cooler screen.

Mdub707 08-06-2011 10:30 AM

Ah, they did update that, it's about $20 for it. Went from a fiber screen to a stainless steel screen. It just prevents crud from hitting the HPOP.

When's the truck scheduled to get fixed up?

07arcticm8 08-07-2011 02:20 AM

Mine is going into the shop on the 18th for headstuds, egr delete and the tech is going to look at the oil cooler while its apart. The heads will also be machine to.:jump:

I have MDubs truck at my dealership, WHEN i get to do it, i want to put the updated STC bracket on the back of the pump, throw updated stand pipes and dummy plugs in it, arp head studs, mill the heads, and oil cooler.

Mdub707 08-07-2011 11:45 AM

Yeah, I want you to do all that stuff too! :c:

:tu:

Powerstroke Tech
Does the updated STC bracket on the back of the pump, updated stand pipes and dummy plugs help a lot and where could I get them.

YES THEY DO! When you can get 50-90k out of stock stc fitting and stand pipes, ive done the new bracket which is solid and updated dummy plugs and stand pipes and have yet to see the truck back. The older ones are like an air line fitting to an air compressor IN CONCEPT. they will wiggle lose from vibration heat and extremely high pressures. Lets see how well you hold up to 3000+psi high temperatures and vibration. lol. Same with stand pipes and dummy plugs only the o rings wear out. Before ford updated them the only way you could get them was for a 4.5 LCF same frigging things and have been doing that way before ford released them as an "update part number". Here are the part numbers for all of them.
4C3Z-9B246-F STC fitting
6E7Z-9A332-B Updated Stand Pipes and dummy plugs
heres something else i highly recommend
W302472 6.4 banjo bolts
W303659 Washers for banjo bolts
3C3Z-9T517-AG Fuel pressure regulator upgrade kit.

Thanks for the info Powerstroke Tech.:c:

Mdub707 08-08-2011 08:23 AM

Bill, thanks for all the P/N's!

We should come up with a thread we can sticky with common P/N's like this, and maybe even some cross reference into International P/N's too... hrmmmm :humm:

I finished mine with all of these parts in the middle of july. wow, hell of a difference, especially since some of m orings were blown in half on the dummy plugs./

That is an EXCELLENT idea! :tu::c: Just went through all the forums and took me about 20 minutes to get caught up on the last 2 months of DB life. Lol.

PowerstrokeTech87 08-10-2011 11:30 PM

I agree. Some how Sticky a thread for tools and sticky a thread for part numbers and cross reference international parts.

Ive got a spread sheet about a mile long just for the 6.0 I have everything simple from a PCV o ring all the way to a complete engine part number. I have ARPs official PN for studs, not that it matters because you can buy them from ANY distributor. LOL im trying to get my dealership to stock Swamps FICMs Sinister egr delete kits and ARP studs...

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

And i also have a spread sheet thats about 10 miles long for the 6.4 if anyone is unfortunate enough to have one of those :bomb: with no warranty remaining

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

HA that should be the 6.4 signature-:bomb: just replace bomb with 6.4

Mdub707 08-11-2011 07:14 AM

Bill, email me the spreadsheet if you want, and I'll go through and just pick out the common 6.0 stuff, or maybe we can just attach the spreadsheet itself, IF you feel comfortable with that. Send both the 6.0 and 6.4 ones. I'll PM you my work email so you can send it there. Someone was crazy enough to make me a moderator, so I think I can actually just sticky it too. :c:
